My brother and I will be spending the afternoon together. He's going back to Washington state on Friday and then he'll be deployed to Afghanistan. He might not even get another leave because this one was three weeks longs.

Out of all the promises Obama's broken, not ending all the wars is the one that hurts me most. I suppose he never specified when exactly he would would end the wars but still . . . Well, it's not like I'm going to vote for anyone else anyway. Imagine the likes of Gingrich in the White House. Or worse, Santorum Assfroth.

Anyway, on a much happier note, I finally got to try some Apps on my Kindle Fire. I've never had a smartphone, so I'm getting to use the things years after they became popular. That's how you know I'm poor. I only get to use things after they've trickle down to people who live from paycheck to paycheck. The first ones I got were Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. They're big time wasters, but I don't see myself getting overly obsessed  with them.

Then I got one to practice for my Driver's license exam (no I don't know how to drive I never had a car or knew anyone who did, I'm getting my first official driving lesson today or tomorrow). It's being pretty helpful since it has all those practice questions for the actual test. I also got an amazing app to help me review anatomy. I think they'll be really useful for studying.

Tyrion: We mostly got to see just how much his family has abused him his whole life. To make matters worse, the people of King's Landing are way to eager to blame him for his family's unadulterated evil just because he happens to be ugly and they happen to be hot. Martin just hates happiness because even Shae sold him out in the end. I must be reading these books too quickly because I don't remember him doing much in A Storm of Swords. That or the plot's getting thinner because Martin insists on squeezing in the POV of a million characters. Anyway, I was glad that Tyrion killed his odious father. His status as a good guy was solidified when he refused to raped Sansa even though said odious father forced them to get married. I'm glad that Martin sees rape as the moral even horizon that his anti heroes cannot bring themselves to cross. Tyrion admits that he raped Tysha back when he was thirteen, but the way he remembers it makes it sound like Tywin forced him it as much as he did her.

Jaime: Am I supposed to think this guy is even close to redeeming himself? Sure, he may be acting all remorseful now but his first action in the series was to push a kid out of window to make sure nobody found out about his creepy affair with his twin. I was happy when the douchebag lost an arm. My theory is that Martin intended him to be a major villain at the beginning to the series, because even Jaime himself has forgotten about what he did to Bran. It's hard to imagine that the same guy who rushed into a cage with a bear to rescue Brienne also tried to kill a boy in cold blood. Plus, you know, the twin sister fucking. In a temple. Next to the corpse of their psychotic incest spawn. While the sister bleeds from her period. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT MARTIN?

Cersei: Awful person as far as I can tell. Maybe I'd be more sympathetic about her grief if Joffrey hadn't been such a disgusting monster. I'll admit that I'm interested to see what she'll do now that she has what she's apparently always wanted: the Iron Throne. From what I've read of the next book, she's not proving to be as smart as book one led us to believe she was.

Sansa: My heart still aches for Sansa. It's getting really disheartening to read about her being surrounded by vultures who want to use her to get some kind of claim for Winterfell. Her forced marriage to Tyrion was actually a reprieve since he couldn't bring himself to abuse her and he didn't allow Joffrey to continue abusing her either. Then, because Martin hates happiness, he has her "rescued" by Little-fucking-finger. The guy's grossness has increased exponentially since he seems to have shifted his creepy sex crusade from Catelyn to Sana. Ew. Worst of all, Sansa is completely at his mercy and not even slightly attracted to him. Mark my words, Littlefinger will lose "patience" and try to rape her when she keeps spurning him. Never mind that he's passing her off as a bastard daughter. He's that disgusting.

Arya: is pretty much a deconstruction the plucky adventurous tomboy archetype. Her supposed pluckiness gets her into so much fucking trouble. Every time she's close to getting to her mother or one of her brothers, Martin does something to keep her away from them. Finally, she ends up in another country, where I'm pretty sure she's going to train as an assassin. It sounds cool, I know, but there's something extremely creepy about a little kid losing all reluctance to kill in cold blood. Still, she's not with Littlefinger, so she got a better deal than Sansa.
I really hope next book has a faster pace.
